Usher is the application web portal for College of Communication at The University of Texas at Austin. This portal houses general information for users to interact with including: Faculty/Staff directory browsing, building maps, and upcoming events. Users who log in will be presented with a custom variety of services based on their role with the respective applications.
Built on ASP.Net 3.5 it utilizes two role providers upon a users login. A XML based provider that looks up a users UTED information and grants access as needed. Additional a SQL role provider is used to grant access to most of the administration areas. Upon login a user is greeted by a services page that shows their account activity. The applications housed within use a wide variety of technologies including: MSSQL, REST, LDAP, Exchange Web Services, JQuery, and document uploading.
